Cosa significa eBook
eBook: la versione elettronica del buon vecchio libro!
L’eBook (o e-Book) altro non è che una speciale versione digitale di un… libro! E se mastichi un po’ di inglese ti sarai reso conto che è la parola stessa a dirtelo. “eBook”, infatti, è l’abbreviazione di “electronical book”, ovvero “libro elettronico”.
Anche se ne senti parlare da relativamente poco tempo devi sapere che gli eBook esistono già da un bel po’; il “boom” a cui assisti ora è merito alla diffusione di Internet e di tutti i vari dispositivi portatili per leggerli.
Gli eBook sono infatti disponibili in diversi formati, alcuni progettati proprio per essere simili a veri e propri “libri” ed altri un po’ meno.
Alcuni eBook vengono distribuiti sotto forma di file PDF, altri sotto forma di immagini, altri ancora sotto forma di file ePub (che supportano anche didascalie, note, titoli, indici e via dicendo) e tanti, tanti altri formati.
Puoi leggere gli eBook da qualsiasi dispositivo che supporti il formato di cui ne disponi; ad esempio, quasi tutti gli smartphone e i tablet possono leggere eBook in PDF.
Esistono inoltre appositi apparecchi che rassomigliano un po’ a un tablet ma che, in realtà, sono progettati apposta per leggere eBook: un esempio sono i dispositivi Kindle di Amazon, progettati con lo scopo di essere dei lettori di libri elettronici.
Solitamente gli eBook sono scaricabili da Internet oppure associati a libri fisici o testi scolastici che acquisti; esistono, comunque, degli appositi market che ti permettono di acquistarli o noleggiarli usando semplicemente la carta di credito.
Sei un bambino? Leggere fa bene: se ne hai voglia, chiedi ad un adulto di scaricarti un eBook (se è disponibile gratuitamente) o di acquistartelo; ti consiglio di non farlo da solo: non tutti gli eBook sono adatti a te!
Sei un adulto? Prediligi l’acquisto da market e store autorizzati; evita di scaricare eBook illegalmente da Internet. Se non ti va di spendere soldini, sono disponibili in rete anche eBook che gli autori permettono di scaricare in modo assolutamente gratuito!
