Io lo sfrutto, tu lo sfrutti, tutti lo sfruttiamo. Ma cosa significa Internet, questa parola così conosciuta ma ancora così misteriosa?
Cosa significa Internet?
Internet non è fatta soltanto di siti web
Internet è una rete gigantesca composta da server connessi tra loro, in tutto il mondo. Non devi pensare a Internet soltanto come un posto che ospita i siti web che visiti tutti i giorni: Internet è anche posta elettronica, servizi di streaming musicale e video, app connesse, dispositivi connessi, giochi e tanto, tanto altro!
Nel mondo esistono molti server potenti, e con diversi scopi, che permettono di avere la Internet che conosciamo tutti; questi computer sono sparsi nel mondo e, per offrire connettività a tutti, sono collegati tra loro attraverso delle linee fisiche ad altissima velocità che possono passare anche sotto l’oceano. Queste linee fisiche vengono dette dorsali e si occupano di diffondere Internet agli importanti server web e agli stessi ISP.
Per collegarti ad Internet dovrai avere un contratto con il tuo gestore di servizi e collegarti ai suoi server, che faranno da tramite tra te ed il resto di Internet e ti permetteranno di accedere alla rete.
Curiosità: inizialmente, quando Internet iniziò a diffondersi, dovevi collegarti usando delle complesse procedure ed usare la linea del tuo telefono fisso, che non avresti potuto utilizzare per telefonare mentre eri in rete. Per questo motivo, e perché i costi dei collegamenti a Internet erano alti, non potevi sempre essere collegato a Internet! Erano ben lontani i tempi delle ADSL, della fibra e delle connessioni 4G, che oggi sono sempre lì a nostra disposizione…
