Cosa significa short URL?

Se “short” in inglese significa corto o breve, e l’URL è l’indirizzo di una pagina web… allora puoi concludere che uno short URL è un indirizzo di una pagina web accorciato! Ti spiego meglio: può capitarti di voler condividere degli indirizzi come https://www.questabellapagina.it/ancoraunapagina/continuo/nonmifermo/12345.html e, se vorrai farlo usando un social network che ti permette di usare soltanto un certo numero di caratteri, potresti non averne a sufficienza per l’intero indirizzo!

E’ qui che entra in gioco lo short URL: grazie ad alcuni servizi che puoi trovare nel web, servizi che si chiamano “URL shortener” o semplicemente “shortener”, puoi ottenere un indirizzo che ti conduce alla stessa pagina web ma che è molto più breve di quello originale. Per esempio, l’indirizzo https://goo.gl/Jqgq9E e l’indirizzo https://www.wikibit.it/s/cosa-significa-short-url-1718 ti conducono entrambi in questa pagina, ma il primo – creato con un URL shortnener – è estremamente più corto del secondo!
