Cosa significa SMB?
SMB (Server Message Block) è un protocollo utilizzato su Windows (ma inserito anche in altri sistemi operativi) per condividere file, cartelle, porte e dispositivi tramite la rete LAN. Quando condividi una cartella sulla rete (rendendola Pubblica), essa diventa visibile a tutti gli altri PC o dispositivi della rete proprio grazie a SMB.
Utilizzando questo protocollo di norma è richiesta l’autenticazione con username e password, ma su alcuni dispositivi (come i NAS) le cartelle condivise tramite SMB sono spesso accessibili in forma anonima (basta cliccarci sopra per accedere, creare e modificare file). In quest’ultimo caso si perde la sicurezza dei file in caso d’accesso da parte di utenti non autorizzati.
Come usare SMB su Windows
Se hai Windows puoi condividere facilmente una cartella o un file in rete facendo clic con il tasto destro e utilizzando la voce Proprietà-> Condivisione.
Accedere a cartelle SMB da Android
Se hai un dispositivo Android puoi accedere alle cartelle condivise in rete tramite SMB utilizzando un file manager gratuito. Scarica l’app gratuitamente dal seguente link.

Una volta installata usa la voce Remote per accedere alle cartelle condivise.
